Owen Cooper's adolescence was irrevocably transformed following the 2025 Emmys. "It means the world to me," the 15-year-old, now the youngest male actor to ever win an Emmy, shared with reporters in the backstage area of Los Angeles' Peacock Theater, "my family, the people back home." At that very moment, his friends in his native England were likely fast asleep, completely unaware of his triumphant achievement. "They're probably still sound asleep. It's around 4 a.m. back home," Owen remarked. "But trust me, they'll be overjoyed when I tell them. I can't wait to share the news."

And speaking of being overjoyed, Owen experienced another unforgettable highlight just before the Emmys: meeting Jake Gyllenhaal, who was nominated for his leading role in the limited series *Presumed Innocent*. "An absolute honor and privilege to meet a legend like Jake," the teenager, who had expressed his hope to meet and converse with the fellow actor at the Emmys on *Jimmy Kimmel Live!* just three days prior, posted on Instagram hours before the ceremony, "and it's a moment I'll cherish forever @jakegyllenhaal."

Jake responded warmly, "The honor was all mine, man. Best of luck tonight!!!!"

The British actor, who portrays a student accused of murdering a classmate in the miniseries *Adolescence*, triumphed over his co-star Ashley Walters, as well as fellow nominees Javier Bardem from *Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story*, Bill Camp and Peter Sarsgaard from *Presumed Innocent*, and Rob Delaney from *Dying for Sex*, to claim the Emmy honor.

Owen narrowly missed out on becoming the youngest-ever Emmy winner overall by a single year, with that title still held by Roxana Zal, who, at the age of 14, won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series at the 1984 awards for her role in *Something About Amelia*.

At the 2025 ceremony, *Adolescence* swept up eight Emmys, including accolades for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Stephen Graham, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Erin Doherty, and Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.
