Alyssa Farah Griffin, a co-host of The View and a former White House staffer, stunned the talk show's audience on Tuesday when she mistakenly referred to Donald Trump Jr.'s recent wedding as his "funeral" during a live broadcast. The president's son and former star of The Apprentice reality series had married socialite Bettina Anderson in Florida, followed by a ceremony in the Bahamas on Saturday that his father chose not to attend.
During the debate on whether or not the president should have attended the ceremony, Griffin - who previously worked for Trump but later resigned and spoke out against him - made the slip-up. "If they had done the wedding at McDonald's, maybe he would go," joked comedian Joy Behar, referencing the president's reported eating habits.

Griffin then added, "I, oddly enough, talked about this on CNN on Friday. I said he should go. A parent should try to never miss their child's funeral." The View studio audience gasped at the mistake, while panelist Sara Haines covered her mouth in shock.
Griffin quickly corrected herself, holding out her arms and exclaiming, "Or... I'm sorry, oh God, wedding!" The new mother, who had her first baby, Justin Griffin, in February, then explained the slip-up, saying, "Honestly, I'm so tired. I have a 3-month-old!"
Griffin continued her thoughts on the issue at hand, stating that a "parent should never miss a wedding if they're able to go," and that she didn't think "people would have criticized" the president if he had attended the wedding.
Behar quipped about Trump Jr.'s past divorce from Vanessa Trump, who recently announced that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer, adding, "He can go to the next one."
In a post on Truth Social on Friday, Trump confirmed that he would not attend the ceremony. "I feel it is important for me to remain in Washington, D.C., at the White House during this important period of time," he wrote. "Congratulations to Don and Bettina!"
