Eddie Murphy has recently recounted a fascinating anecdote involving Beyonce from their collaborative days on the iconic film, Dreamgirls. The beloved actor from The Nutty Professor made a guest appearance on the latest episode of 360 With Speedy, aired on August 7th, where he shared an intriguing behind-the-scenes moment he witnessed between Dreamgirls costars Jennifer Hudson and the pop sensation.
"I was going through a divorce when I did Dreamgirls," reminisced the 64-year-old, whose marriage to Nicole Murphy had ended in 2005 after 12 years together. Although Eddie admitted that "much of the movie-making process had faded from memory," he recounted one vivid memory from the film that lingered in his mind.
"My Beyonce memory – and neither of them knows I'm privy to this – was when I observed Jennifer and the songstress on stage during a break between takes," revealed the Shrek star. "Jennifer, still new to the showbiz world, had what appeared to be a slight ash residue on one of her fingers. She was licking it off, unaware of the spectacle. That's when Beyonce swiftly grabbed Jennifer's hand and gently said, 'Don't do that... I'll get you some cream.'"
Eddie continued, "There was a moment of quiet between them, but I caught the entire exchange." He further noted that this might be the very first time he was sharing this anecdote with anyone. "That's my Beyonce memory," he added with a smile.
Meanwhile, Dreamgirls graced the silver screen in 2006, with Jennifer earning an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film at the 79th Academy Awards ceremony in 2007. The movie also garnered eight nominations that year, cementing its place in cinematic history.
