Sunny Hostin is taking a moment to savor the scenery after a harrowing incident that left her shaken. During the June 20th episode of "The View," the daytime television personality recounted how she had "narrowly escaped death" after accidentally ingesting an allergen live on air during a food segment with former panelist Debbie Matenopoulos earlier in the week.

How The View's Sunny Hostin

"She had prepared this exquisite Greek cuisine," Sunny elaborated to her fellow cohosts Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro. "I have a severe allergy to walnuts, and as I was savoring the dish, Alyssa inquired, 'Are those walnuts in here?' She confirmed, and instantly, panic set in for me."

In response, Sunny hastily scribbled a "farewell note" to Alyssa, outlining the dire situation, before grabbing the attention of the talk show's executive producer Brian Teta. "She gasped, 'Oh no,'" Sunny recounted. "I looked at Brian, who asked, 'Is everything alright?' To which I replied, 'No, it's not.'"

Fortunately for the 56-year-old, who has been a part of the long-running series since 2016, the show's onsite medical team swooped in to avert any further disaster. "Our Disney nurses are true superheroes," Sunny exclaimed, adding that one of them "rushed in with an EpiPen, conducted tests, and administered Benadryl… I was terrified."

As for Alyssa, who has been a series regular since 2022, she admitted that she hadn't fully grasped the gravity of the situation in the heat of the moment. "At first, I couldn't decipher the note," the 36-year-old political commentator said, "but then I joked, 'If anything happens to you, can I have your Gucci shoes?'"

However, with the frightening ordeal now behind them, Sunny praised her colleague for being "incredibly composed," while Alyssa added, "We're relieved you pulled through." Sunny isn't the only celebrity to have had a brush with danger before.
