Jessie J is steadily progressing on her journey to recovery. Mere days after the talented vocalist behind "Masterpiece" disclosed her surgery to combat early-stage breast cancer, she posted an encouraging health update on her Instagram Stories on June 26th. "The good news: Cancer is no longer present," she penned optimistically. "My nipple is back in its rightful place, and I can indulge in 'Love Island' guilt-free. I'm relishing the chance to rest and engage with friends more deeply than ever."
Clarifying her statement shortly afterward, the 37-year-old stressed that she was still awaiting definitive results to confirm her cancer-free status. "I'm receiving numerous messages celebrating the absence of cancer," she elaborated. "To clarify, I included the [fingers crossed] emoji as a gesture of hope, not as a fact. It's been just four days since my surgery. I was merely highlighting the positives of the surgery and my situation while remaining positive. However, I anticipate receiving my results soon, and ideally, I'll be able to share them as concrete news. But for the meantime, I remain uncertain. Nevertheless, I'll stay optimistic and express my desires to the universe."
Indeed, the "Price Tag" sensation elaborated on the compassionate care she's been receiving during her post-surgery recovery. Prioritizing her friendships, her passion for villa dramas, and connecting with others in similar circumstances, she's also been embraced by her closest supporters: her loved ones. Jessie revealed that her mother, Rose Cornish, had recently moved in with her, alongside her boyfriend, Channan Safir Colman, and their two-year-old son, Sky Safir. Speaking of her partner of five years, she lauded him for making her feel secure and being her go-to for soothing massages.
However, amid these joyous moments, there have also been challenges, and the Grammy-nominated singer openly discussed these difficulties. "The downsides: I'm unable to be the mother I'm accustomed to being and can't pick up Sky," Jessie continued, noting that recovery required her to sit still for extended periods, contrary to her usual habits. "The anxiety of uncertainty over whether the cancer is completely gone haunts me. While the pain and discomfort are manageable and expected, they're quite a nuisance when I'm trying to sleep." She humorously confessed that the anesthetics and painkillers had left her constipated, opening up to any "suggestions" for relief.
This isn't the first time the "The Voice UK" star has addressed her health with a touch of levity. Earlier this month, she cracked a few jokes while announcing her breast cancer diagnosis. "Cancer is terrible in any form, but I'm clinging to the word 'early,'" she disclosed in a June 3 Instagram video. "It's quite a dramatic way to get a breast augmentation. I'll be taking a brief hiatus after the Summertime Ball for my surgery, and I'll return with bigger boobs and more music."
Despite her comedic outlook, her diagnosis has imparted a profound lesson. "The timing has been both chaotic and beautiful, providing me with an incredible perspective," Jessie explained on her Instagram Story. "But honestly, I need to process it, discuss it, and I crave a hug. You've supported me through both my triumphs and trials. And I don't want this journey to be any different."
