José de la Torre, who brought the character of Iván to life in the Spanish-language Netflix series "Toy Boy," has passed away at the age of 37. The tragic news was first broken by Montilla Digital, a Spanish publication, which reported that the talented actor succumbed to an undisclosed illness on December 5th, following a prolonged and courageous battle. A solemn funeral service was held in Spain the following day to mourn his untimely demise.
In June of this year, de la Torre bravely disclosed that he had been diagnosed with a "serious illness" and had decided to take a step back from his acting career to undergo treatment. His disclosure came during the same month.
Since its premiere in 2019, de la Torre had been an integral part of Netflix's "Toy Boy," which spanned 21 episodes across three seasons until 2021. The series revolved around Hugo Beltrán, portrayed by Jesús Mosquera, a stripper determined to prove his innocence for a crime he didn't commit and for which he had been wrongfully imprisoned for seven years. The ensemble cast also included Cristina Castaño, María Pedraza, Carlo Costanzia, and Raudel Raúl Martiato.
De la Torre's acting prowess was also showcased in "Amar es para siempre" ("To Love Forever"), a long-running soap opera that delved into the social and economic rejuvenation of the Spanish working class during the 1960s through the lens of the fictional tavern "El Asturiano." The series starred José Antonio Sayagués and Mauel Baquerio, with de la Torre appearing in 36 episodes.
His impressive resume also included guest appearances on shows like "Vis a Vis: El Oasis" and "Serve and Protect," further demonstrating his versatility and range as an actor.
De la Torre leaves behind a cherished family, including his father Antonio de la Torre Hidalgo, his mother Maria Jose Delgado Espejo, and his sister Marina, who will undoubtedly carry his memory with them forever.
