In an insightful revelation about the future trajectory of "Wednesday," its creative mastermind Miles Millar recently delved into the show's prospects post-Season 2, unveiling ambitious plans for subsequent seasons while drawing valuable lessons from the prolonged journey of "Smallville." He mapped out the evolving narrative of Wednesday Addams, while director Tim Burton underscored the necessity of staying authentic to her iconic character, heaping praise on Jenna Ortega's nuanced portrayal and innate acting prowess.

Affirming the team's commitment to the series, Miles Millar, co-creator of "Wednesday," assured that they stand ready to extend the narrative as long as Netflix lends its support. "We are prepared to embark on as many seasons as Netflix desires to bestow upon us," Millar confided to The Hollywood Reporter. Drawing parallels from his tenure on "Smallville," which unexpectedly spanned a decade, he stressed the vital role of adaptable long-term strategy.

Millar further elaborated, "We undeniably possess a blueprint for Season 3 and beyond, envisioning ways to progressively mold the character and chart her passage into adulthood." He characterized Wednesday as "unwaveringly analog" and emotionally nuanced, presenting ample scope for a gradual yet profound character evolution. Season 2, set to debut in two installments starting August 6 and culminating on September 3, 2025, has already secured a green light for a third season from Netflix.

In a separate exclusive interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Tim Burton weighed in on the creative constraints crucial for preserving Wednesday's essence: "The pivotal aspect lies in… ensuring the show doesn't stray from what defines her character. There's a temptation to amplify her arc, making her more overtly emotional. Jenna understands the delicate balance," he emphasized. He continued, "Jenna embodies the spirit of a silent film actor… what captivates me most about her character isn't so much the dialogue but the manner in which she embodies it."

Millar, alongside co-creator Alfred Gough, hinted at the potential expansion of the "Wednesday" universe. "A plethora of untold stories and characters await exploration within this realm," shared Millar. Although no spinoff has been officially announced, discussions for its development are in the pipeline.

When prompted about a definitive episode count, Burton diplomatically sidestepped the question: "I don't approach it that way. You're addressing two individuals least suited to answer that." However, Gough and Millar noted that the full seven-year span of Nevermore Academy could serve as a guiding beacon for the series' potential longevity.
