Teddi Mellencamp has provided an update on her health journey, specifically addressing her stage 4 cancer diagnosis. During the July 23rd episode of her podcast, "Two Ts in a Pod with Teddi Mellencamp and Tamra Judge," Mellencamp delved deeper into the intricacies of her ongoing treatment regimen.
"For roughly a month now, I've been feeling under the weather, which came as quite a shock to me," she began, her voice tinged with honesty. "Mentally, it's taken a toll on me in ways I never anticipated." The 44-year-old former "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star elaborated, sharing that she struggled to keep her eyes open and her thoughts coherent. In light of these distressing side effects, Mellencamp revealed that she would be temporarily halting her immunotherapy treatment. Her medical team's recent scans had shown promising results, with her tumors shrinking to the point of being barely visible. "We've decided to give my body a chance to regain its strength by taking a brief respite from immunotherapy," she explained.
Furthermore, Mellencamp opened up about the status of her divorce proceedings from Edwin Arroyave, noting that while the divorce is still pending, it has been put on hold amidst her cancer treatment. "I've never been in a position where I've felt so helpless," she confessed, her voice breaking. "I can't stay up late to tuck my kids into bed, attend my daughter's horse shows, or watch Cruz's practice. It's heart-wrenching to realize how my battle with cancer is impacting my relationship with Slate, 12, Cruz, 10, and Dove, 5."
Mellencamp also shared the challenges she faces in recapping episodes of "RHOBH" while undergoing treatment for her brain tumor, emphasizing her efforts to combat memory loss. She recounted a poignant moment leading up to her July 17th interview with "Glamour," alongside fellow "RHOBH" star Kyle Richards. "On that day, everyone told me how beautiful and strong I looked, as if I were on top of the world," she recounted. "Little did they know, I was curled up in a ball, too embarrassed and too weak to even get into a car service without the support of Kyle, Jen, or someone close to me."
This poignant health update on "Two Ts in a Pod" follows Mellencamp's earlier criticism of her doctors for not conducting scans earlier when she was diagnosed with stage one melanoma on her shoulder. "I trusted my doctors to monitor my health diligently, especially since I visited them every three months," she told "Glamour." "But they didn't perform the necessary scans, dismissing the need because my melanoma was only stage one. Look at where I am now," she lamented.
In April, Mellencamp revealed that her cancer had advanced to stage 4, having metastasized to her brain and lungs. Since then, she has undergone surgery, radiation, and, until her recent decision to pause immunotherapy, aggressive treatment to combat the tumors.
