The renowned pop star, who triumphantly clinched the awards for Best Solo Pop Performance and Record of the Year this year, pondered aloud why it took a staggering two decades for her immense "impact on culture" to be recognized. Miley Cyrus confessed that the Recording Academy had overlooked her talents until the release of her smash hit "Flowers," which marked her maiden Grammy victories in the categories of Best Pop Solo Performance and Record of the Year.

In an interview with W magazine, Cyrus reflected deeply on this milestone achievement, which capped a musical journey that began in 2007. She mused, "It's quite puzzling that after two decades of dedication, this is the first time I've truly been taken seriously at the Grammys." Cyrus continued, perplexed, "I've struggled to fathom the criteria, because if we're talking stats and numbers, where was I all this time? And if we're discussing cultural influence, where did I fit in? This isn't arrogance; it's a genuine sense of pride."

Prior to this, Cyrus had been nominated in 2015 for her album Bangerz in the Best Pop Vocal Album category, but she emerged victorious behind Sam Smith.

The multi-talented artist also spoke about being honored at the upcoming Disney Legends Awards Ceremony, where she will become the youngest recipient of this prestigious title. She reminisced that her time at Disney was "overall a great and safe experience," but admitted to the sacrifices she made as a child star of Hannah Montana and a budding musician. "While others enjoy careers spanning 50 or 60 years, mine has already spanned nearly two decades, and I'm just 31. I've spent more of my life in the public eye than out of it. They say that the creative adult is the child who survived, and I certainly worked hard as a child," she explained.

Cyrus added with a touch of humor, "I missed out on prom, dances, and many social experiences with friends. Disney capitalized well on the hard work I put in as a child, and I have no regrets. It's just the truth. So, I believe they owe me this award."

The Disney Legends Awards Ceremony, set to take place on August 11 at Anaheim's Honda Center, will see Cyrus honored alongside illustrious figures like Angela Bassett, Jamie Lee Curtis, Harrison Ford, and Kelly Ripa. This is indeed a fitting tribute to an artist who has left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape.
