Millie Bobby Brown Shares Her Philosophy on Motherhood After Adopting Baby Girl

Published: May 18 2026

Millie Bobby Brown's first Mother's Day was a celebration of all maternal figures, a heartwarming tribute that resonated deeply. As an alum of "Stranger Things," she made sure to honor all types of mothers, announcing in August that she and her husband, Jake Bongiovi, had adopted a baby girl.

"We're all mothers," Millie told "Extra" at the 2026 Netflix Upfront in New York City on May 13. "Whether we're adoptive mothers, birth mothers, or maternal figures, everyone should be celebrated."

The 22-year-old added, "Everybody is raising beautiful children, hopefully, and we're raising the next generation. So, of course, women should be celebrated in every way, and every day."

Millie demonstrated this very sentiment on Mother's Day 2026, posting a graphic to her Instagram Story on May 10 that recognized "The Hopeful Mom-to-Be," "The Exhausted Mom," "The New Mom," "The Grieving Mom," "The Mom Figure Who Stepped Up," "The Mom of a Prodigal Child," "The Single Mom," and "The Foster or Adoptive Mom," as reported by USA Today.

While she and Jake, 24—who wed in 2024—have never shied away from sharing their love for parenthood, they have done their best to keep their baby girl out of the public eye.

"For me, it's really important to protect her and her story until she's old enough to potentially one day share it herself," Millie told British Vogue in November. "It's not my place to purposefully put her in the spotlight unwillingly."

But if her daughter chooses "to share her personality one day with the world," much like her mother did, Millie and Jake would certainly support that decision.

"Right now, as she's so little," the "Enola Holmes" actress said. "As her parents, it's our job to protect her from that."

When it comes to their future as a family, Millie is already looking ahead to more kids.

"I really want a big family," she shared on "Smartless" in 2025. "I'm one of four; he's one of four. So, it is definitely in our future."

Millie also added at the time that she didn't see "having your own child as really any different from adopting." She added, "My home is full of love for anyone and anything."
