Reese Witherspoon has recently unveiled her debut novel, *Gone Before Goodbye*, co-authored with bestselling writer Harlan Coben. Set against the backdrop of the medical world, the *Sweet Home Alabama* star revealed that her "paramount ambition" for this book is to "inspire as many young girls as possible to aspire to become surgeons, just as Elle Woods did for aspiring lawyers."

During a Hello Sunshine panel discussion in Los Angeles, where Reese delved into her foray into literature, she shared with the audience that she had been "nurturing the story concept for two and a half years," yet remained uncertain about the actual process of penning a book. Subsequently, the *Legally Blonde* icon sought Harlan's expertise for this project. "Throughout my entire creative journey, I've essentially stepped into the established visions of others," the 49-year-old continued.

Reese emphasized that previously, "there was already a predefined vision, a completed book, a filmed adaptation, a director in place, and I would simply step in to portray a character. That's what I initially envisioned doing with this idea." However, as explained by the star of *The Morning Show*, "I pondered, why not participate in crafting the entire universe? I possess the knowledge and skills. I understand how to structure narratives."

"I grasp the art of navigating from the inception to the climax and finally to the resolution. Thus, it represented a significant leap for me," Reese added. Meanwhile, the actress-turned-author divulged that the female protagonist in her novel, Maggie, draws inspiration from her own familial background. During Reese's formative years, both her father and mother served in the military.

The actress, now an author, reminisced about spending the first five years of her life on a military base in Germany.
