Eva Mendes has opened up about what drew her closer to Ryan Gosling during the nascent stages of their romance. Recalling the early days of their coupling, the charismatic '2 Fast 2 Furious' star unveiled an unexpected facet of her bond with Gosling, 44, that served as a cornerstone of their connection: their mutual admiration for cleanliness.
"I had always assumed our penchant for a pristine environment was a Cuban trait; we adored a clean kitchen," revealed the 51-year-old actress in a recent interview, her voice tinged with nostalgia. Intriguingly, Mendes was not alone in her delight in tidiness. When she embarked on a romance with the 'The Fall Guy' heartthrob in 2011, amidst the filming of 'The Place Beyond the Pines', she discovered a kindred spirit in him.
"He'd visit, and he’d embrace it with the same fervor. Whenever my family was around, we'd transform the kitchen into our cleaning canvas, meticulously ensuring it sparkled," Mendes recounted to 'New Beauty', describing the cherished memory as a "deeply unifying experience."
Since welcoming their two daughters into the world – Esmeralda Amada, now 10, and nine-year-old Amada Lee – Mendes, a doting mother of two, has retreated from the Hollywood limelight to concentrate on parenting. She has passed down the Gosling-Mendes love for an immaculate abode to their young ones.
Beyond lending her voice to a character in the children's series 'Bluey', the former Hollywood starlet has maintained a low profile since her last cinematic outing in 2014's 'Lost River', a film directed by Gosling.
