The third installment of "Euphoria" embarks on its journey without one of its staple characters. Storm Reid, who portrayed Gia Bennett, the younger sibling of Zendaya's character Rue, revealed that she won't reprise her role in the series. "Euphoria" is geared up to commence production on its third season in January, following a three-year hiatus since the season two premiere on HBO.

In a glamorous red carpet interview at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Governors Awards, Reid, speaking to Rotten Tomatoes, emotionally conveyed her departure from "Euphoria": "Regrettably, Gia won't be returning for the third season, but I am incredibly grateful to the cast and crew of the show, as well as HBO. 'Euphoria' holds a very special place in my heart." Sources have confirmed that Reid will indeed not be a part of the upcoming season.

Season two of "Euphoria" emerged as one of HBO's biggest hits in 2022, averaging an impressive 16 million cross-platform viewers per episode. The season concluded on a high note on February 27, 2022. This Emmy-award-winning drama, created by Sam Levinson, faced numerous delays, including a period when Levinson shifted his focus to "The Idol" for HBO, which strained his once-close relationship with Zendaya, as earlier revealed by The Hollywood Reporter this year.

In July, HBO made the exciting announcement of the official production commencement date for the third season, with network president Casey Bloys echoing statements made earlier that month. Despite persistent rumors suggesting another potential postponement due to Zendaya and other cast members securing film roles, Bloys assured that the series was proceeding as scheduled. "There have been no changes," Bloys told reporters on November 12 with confidence. "We're thrilled. We're moving forward. It's a total of eight episodes."
