Taylor Tomlinson Will Explore Her Faith and Sexuality on Tour

The esteemed host of "After Midnight" and chart-topping comedian Taylor Tomlinson is embarking on a road trip this autumn, armed with her most heartfelt and revealing material yet. The tour, aptly named 'Save Me,' will commence this fall, with performances spanning across the United States. Her latest stand-up set promises to delve into her deepest personal stories, including a deconstruction of her faith, an exploration of her sexuality, and a soul-searching questioning of whether having children is truly worth the journey.

As the now 30-year-old confessed during The Hollywood Reporter's stand-up Roundtable earlier this spring, audiences initially found it challenging to embrace her more personal anecdotes, especially when she bravely tackled weighty subjects like the loss of her mother in the early stages of her career. "I started young, so seeing a 19-year-old performing stand-up is inherently unsettling," she candidly shared with her fellow comedians. "People are already apprehensive for you and nervous about the show, and I believe I lacked the maturity as an artist to execute those jokes with finesse."

However, after years of relentlessly performing "anywhere and everywhere" possible, Tomlinson's efforts finally bore fruit. Long before turning 30, she had firmly established herself as one of the biggest touring comedians, and her latest 'Save Me' tour announcement comes hot on the heels of her previous headline tour, which ranked as the seventh highest-grossing comedy tour of 2023 and the top-grossing among female comics.

Earlier this year, Tomlinson added another feather to her cap as the sole female host of CBS's late-night series "After Midnight," which blends the essence of a game show, panel discussion, and a comic showcase. Recently, the program incorporated a monologue segment, drawing it closer to the traditional late-night format. Nonetheless, landing a late-night show was never part of Tomlinson's master plan. As she confessed during the same Roundtable, her sole ambition was always to tour theaters. "I took 'After Midnight' because they offered a filming schedule from Monday to Wednesday, leaving me free to tour on weekends," she explained. "And once you're on tour alone, you don't encounter other comedians much, so I thought, 'Hey, you can just interact with other comedians on TV for half the week? That sounds like a dream come true!'" The 'Save Me' tour will have Tomlinson performing exclusively on Fridays and Saturdays, ensuring she can return to her work in L.A. on Mondays, ready to tackle the week with renewed energy and inspiration.
