Tyla confessed to feeling "ensnared" in the aftermath of her smash hit "Water," which skyrocketed to chart-topping fame in 2023. The 23-year-old chanteuse revealed how this melody, which revolutionized her life, ushered in unanticipated transformations. During a London Q&A session with The Sun, she recounted a particularly challenging phase, especially the preceding year, when she felt utterly immobilized and submerged under immense pressure. "It was as if I thought, 'Wow, I've made it big, and now everything must be flawless, everything must resonate perfectly because the entire world is watching.' It was quite exhilarating yet stress-inducing for me," she said.
Tyla unleashed her debut mixtape, "We Wanna Party," and shared her thrill at experimenting with diverse sounds and delving into fresh musical concepts. She elaborated, "I hadn't intended to embark on this journey. I was merely crafting music at the start of the year, primarily for an album. But as summer approached, I realized, 'These tunes I'm creating are too good... where are the summer anthems?' We desperately need some summer vibes now,' and I couldn't contain my excitement any longer. I yearned for people to hear them, groove to them, witness my growth over the years, and understand who I am today."
Tyla admitted that a "hint of arrogance" served as her shield against the music industry's pressures. She clarified that her unwavering belief in herself and her certainty that this was her destined path gave her strength. Nonetheless, she conceded that some might label it arrogance, but she believed that every artist requires a touch of that trait to persevere and convince others of their musical prowess.
