On Tuesday, Wendy Williams reached out to the New York morning radio program, "The Breakfast Club," to shed light on the events of the previous day, when news broke that she had been removed from her assisted living residence and transported to a New York hospital for assessment. The Hollywood Reporter verified with the NYPD that authorities had responded to a welfare check at Williams' assisted living facility.

Diagnosed with dementia in 2023, Williams has been a resident of the facility since then. Court documents filed by her court-appointed caregiver, Sabrina Morrissey, in November 2024, painted a picture of Williams as "cognitively impaired, permanently disabled, and legally incapacitated." Williams, however, has been vocal against her guardianship, calling into "The Breakfast Club" in January to assert that she is "not cognitively impaired" but feels like she's "in prison."

On Tuesday, Williams once again dialed into "The Breakfast Club," this time accompanied by Ginalisa Monterroso from Connect Care Advisory Group, an organization that aids elderly patients in navigating healthcare complexities. Williams recounted her conversation with the NYPD officers, emphasizing, "I told them, 'I am not incapacitated.' You see, despite the accusations against me, I reside on the memory unit floor—where residents have lost all memory, unlike me. I keep asking myself, why am I here? What's really happening? It's a desperate plea for help."

Monterroso elaborated on her recent letter to Adult Protective Services, formally requesting an investigation into the "troubling circumstances" surrounding Williams' care. During Tuesday's broadcast, Monterroso detailed to radio host Charlamagne tha God how she orchestrated the NYPD's arrival and subsequent removal of Williams from the facility. "Yesterday morning, during our routine call, I assured Wendy, 'We'll be calling the police and communicating with them that you're being isolated.' Here we have a guardian proclaiming to the entire building and the globe that she's incapacitated," Monterroso explained.
