John Krasinski is making a triumphant return to the franchise that solidified his status as an A-list director. He will pen and helm "A Quiet Place: Part III," with Paramount Pictures setting a prime summer release date of July 9, 2027. The casting lineup has yet to be revealed, but the first two installments were led by Krasinski's real-life spouse, Emily Blunt, with their fictional offspring portrayed by Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe. Krasinski himself starred in the inaugural film, which debuted in 2018, and made a brief appearance in the sequel that premiered in 2021.
Krasinski and Paramount have been toying with the idea of a trilogy for quite some time. The filmmaker revealed in 2022 that the movie was initially targeted for a 2025 release, but that plan ultimately fell through. In the meantime, he directed "IF" for the studio.
The franchise, which originated from a script penned by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, has amassed a staggering $900 million worldwide across three films — the two Krasinski-directed "Quiet Place" installments and the spinoff "A Quiet Place: Day One," helmed by filmmaker Michael Sarnoski and starring Lupita Nyong'o and Joseph Quinn.
The films are set in a dystopian world where alien monsters have invaded Earth. These creatures, though blind, are highly sensitive to sound and will ruthlessly slay anything that makes noise, forcing humans to live in constant silence or face certain death.
Krasinski and Allyson Seeger's Sunday Night Production will produce the film through their first-look deal with Paramount, alongside Platinum Dunes. On Friday, Krasinski teased the project and its release date on Instagram, adding to the excitement surrounding this highly anticipated return to the "Quiet Place" universe.
