Black Bear, the independent studio and distributor, will unleash Guy Ritchie's action-packed thriller, In The Grey, in theaters on April 10, 2026, after the film was unexpectedly removed from Lionsgate's calendar. Black Bear acquired the distribution rights from Lionsgate, which had originally planned a January 17, 2025 release date. In a collaboration with Black Bear, Lionsgate will continue to handle the film's digital and pay-TV distribution.

Benjamin Kramer, president of U.S. distribution at Black Bear, praised Ritchie's work in a statement on Tuesday, saying, "Guy is one of the all-time greats when it comes to creating action that is both fun and gripping. In The Grey features every ounce of his trademark style and wit, not to mention a hugely talented cast led by Jake Gyllenhaal, Henry Cavill, and Eiza González. We are thankful to our partners at Lionsgate for their flexibility and collaboration in bringing this film to audiences. We look forward to continuing to work with them."

In The Grey follows a covert team of elite operatives who live in the shadows of the global stage, comfortable with wielding power and influence as much as they are with automatic weapons and high explosives. When a ruthless despot steals a billion-dollar fortune, the team is sent on a suicide mission to steal it back. What begins as an impossible heist quickly spirals into an all-out war of strategy, deception, and survival.

The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Henry Cavill, Eiza González, Kristofer Hivju, Fisher Stevens, and Rosamund Pike and is written and directed by Ritchie. It was produced by Guy Ritchie and Ivan Atkinson for Toff Guy, John Friedberg for Black Bear, and Dave Caplan for C2.

In addition to In The Grey, Black Bear's 2026 film slate includes the action thriller Shelter, starring Jason Statham and directed by Ric Roman Waugh, which will hit theaters on January 30.
