"With utmost sincerity, I believe we did our utmost to uphold the integrity of the book and pay homage to its devoted fans," asserts the actress portraying Lily Bloom. Speaking exclusively to Entertainment Tonight on Friday, the actress, who embodies Lily Bloom in the film, delved into the making of the movie, which Justin Baldoni not only directed but also starred in. I truly believe we've created something that stands alone, beautiful in its own right," Lively elaborates.

"Even if you're unfamiliar with the book, the movie will captivate you," she continues. "I'm confident that even if you've read the book and watched the movie, you'll still be thoroughly delighted. We poured our hearts into this project," she adds. "Moreover, I firmly believe that if you watch the movie first and then read the book, you won't feel any disconnect. Both are equally enchanting."

The film, slated for a theatrical release on August 9, follows Lily Bloom's journey as she overcomes a traumatic childhood to pursue her dreams. Along her path, she encounters the charming neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (portrayed by Baldoni). As their bond deepens, Lily starts to see aspects of Ryle that remind her of her parents' complex relationship. Matters become even more perplexing for Lily when her first love, Atlas Corrigan (played by Brandon Sklenar), unexpectedly reenters her life.

The former Gossip Girl star emphasizes that "the most pivotal aspect" of the film is its connection with the fans, many of whom have been devout followers of Colleen Hoover since the book's inception. "This narrative has resonated deeply with countless individuals, thus carrying a significant responsibility," Lively remarks about "It Ends With Us." "We aim to honor both the book and the characters that people hold so dear, while also infusing it with authenticity and humanity that reflects our own selves. It's a multifaceted endeavor that we strive to achieve through this story."

"I'm profoundly proud of this film," she continues. "It's a privilege to share it with Colleen and her loyal followers. It's truly a special moment. Taking on the role of Lily was an honor, and I'm immensely proud of the outcome."

Earlier this week at the Tribeca Festival, Christy Hall, the screenwriter behind the film, also briefly spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the upcoming release. "I must confess that we all worked tirelessly to ensure that this beautiful book receives the justice it deserves," she shares. "And I sincerely believe that the fans will feel respected, cared for, and deeply cherished, because everyone involved in making this movie holds the same passion for the book as they do for the art of filmmaking."
