After the thrilling unveiling of the initial trailer for the eagerly anticipated action sequel "Nobody 2," it seems Bob Odenkirk's character might require an additional retreat once his vacation concludes. Scheduled for an August 15 theatrical release by Universal Pictures, the film, directed by Timo Tjahjanto, promises an exhilarating ride.
Joining the seasoned ensemble cast, which includes returning stars Odenkirk, Connie Nielsen, RZA, Michael Ironside, Colin Salmon, Billy MacLellan, Gage Munroe, Paisley Cadorath, and Christopher Lloyd, are newcomers Sharon Stone, Colin Hanks, and John Ortiz.
In "Nobody 2," Odenkirk reprises his role as Hutch Mansell, a devoted father, loving husband, and clandestine assassin extraordinaire. As he agrees to embark on a summer escapade with his wife Becca (Nielsen) and their children to a bustling theme park, he unexpectedly finds himself ensnared in a treacherous web orchestrated by a corrupt sheriff (Hanks) and a ruthless crime boss (Stone).
"I've accepted that your profession is far from ordinary," Nielsen informs Odenkirk in the trailer, her tone tinged with understanding. "But it's been months since we've seen you, and summer break is just around the corner."
Stone's resolve to hunt down Odenkirk is unmistakable as she utters with conviction, "Find this nobody. Leave no stone unturned."
The preview culminates in a gripping scene where Odenkirk, in the midst of overpowering an adversary, vents his frustration at being disturbed from his well-deserved leisure: "I told you, I'm on bloody vacation."
Lindsey Buckingham's iconic 1983 tune "Holiday Road," famously featured in Warner Bros.' "National Lampoon's Vacation" and its subsequent installments, plays prominently in the trailer, enhancing the nostalgic and adventurous vibe.
Tjahjanto directs "Nobody 2" from a screenplay credited to Derek Kolstad, who penned the original film, and Aaron Rabin. Producers on the sequel include Odenkirk, Kelly McCormick, David Leitch, Marc Provissiero, and Braden Aftergood.
The pandemic-delayed original "Nobody," helmed by Ilya Naishuller, finally hit theaters in March 2021 and secured the top spot at the domestic box office during its opening weekend, setting high expectations for its sequel.
