Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Bryan Singer has made a comeback behind the camera for the first time since his career took a nosedive amidst the #MeToo uproar in 2019. The filmmaker has discreetly helmed an indie feature starring Jon Voight, weaving a poignant father-son tale against the backdrop of Israel's occupation of Lebanon in the late '70s or early '80s. Variety was the first to break the news about this project, which is still without a release date or further details.

While this indie venture doesn't signify a grand return to Hollywood's limelight, it's undoubtedly a noteworthy milestone for Singer, who once reigned supreme as a highly sought-after director behind billion-dollar franchises like X-Men, high-profile projects such as Superman Returns and Valkyrie starring Tom Cruise, as well as Oscar-winning gems like The Usual Suspects.

During the promotion of X-Men: Days of Future Past in 2014, Singer faced accusations of sexual misconduct, yet he continued to thrive at the pinnacle of Hollywood. However, his reign began to crumble towards the end of 2017 when 20th Century Fox dismissed him as the director of Bohemian Rhapsody due to his frequent absences from the set. Although Dexter Fletcher stepped in to finish the film, Singer retained his director credit for the project, which went on to win four Oscars and grossed $910 million worldwide.

Singer subsequently secured another high-profile gig directing Millennium Films' Red Sonja, only to lose it amidst an Atlantic report detailing allegations of sexual misconduct involving minors, which he has consistently denied. Without representation since being dropped by WME, Singer hasn't directed a film since then. For the past few years, the filmmaker has been residing away from Hollywood in Israel, where he has toyed with the idea of making a documentary to address the sexual misconduct claims against him.
