Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson is taking to the streets with a bang. The rapper-turned-versatile actor and entrepreneur has joined the eclectic ensemble of "Street Fighter," Legendary Entertainment's highly anticipated feature film adaptation of the iconic Capcom video game series. This diverse lineup is truly a sight to behold, with A-list star Jason Momoa portraying Blanka, heartthrob Noah Centineo embodying Ken, and gay country crooner Orville Peck stepping into the shoes of Vega.
Rounding out the cast are Joe Anoa'i, better known as WWE superstar Roman Reigns, who will clash as the formidable Akuma, and martial arts master-turned-actor Andrew Koji (from "Warrior") leading the charge as the iconic Ryu. Callina Liang (from "Presence") will channel the spirit of Chun-Li. As for Jackson, he'll be flexing his muscles as Balrog, a disgraced pugilist who doubles as the villain's trusty bodyguard. Sources whisper that he's immersing himself in rigorous training for the role and will personally execute the film's daring stunts.
Legendary Entertainment remains tight-lipped on the matter. Kitao Sakurai, known for his work on "The Eric Andre Show," will helm the flick, which kicks off production in August in scenic Australia. Legendary is collaborating with Capcom on the co-development and co-production front.
Plot specifics remain shrouded in mystery. "Street Fighter" first captivated arcades in 1987 and soared to pop culture greatness with "Street Fighter II" in 1991, revolutionizing one-on-one gaming. The latest installment, "Street Fighter 6," released in June 2023, secured the title of Best Fighting Game at the 2023 Game Awards.
Jackson, a Grammy Award winner with over 30 million albums sold, is renowned in Hollywood for his TV empire fueled by the acclaimed "Power" series on Starz. His G-Unit Film & Television studio has also produced ABC's "For Life" and recently wrapped up season four of "Black Mafia Family" for Starz, alongside season two of the "Black Mafia Family" docuseries.
In 2024, Jackson joined forces with Lionsgate to launch 50 Cent Action, a FAST channel that has swiftly climbed to the top, earning the No. 1 spot among action channels on Roku and LG FAST platforms.
