Having achieved remarkable success with the blockbuster film "Wicked," Cynthia Erivo is poised to embark on an exhilarating new venture. The Oscar-nominated actress is set to produce a sci-fi action thriller titled "Saturation Point," inspired by Adrian Tchaikovsky's spellbinding novel of the same name, as reported by Variety. Minnie Schedeen will be tasked with adapting the book's captivating screenplay for the big screen.
The film centers around Dr. Jasmine Marks, a courageous leader of a search and rescue mission venturing into The Zone, an eerie and unforgiving stretch of rainforest nestled along the equator, where the climate is harsh and inhospitable to intelligent life. According to the enthralling logline, "As Dr. Marks delves deeper into the treacherous wilderness, she uncovers a startling revelation—The Zone is far more deadly than initially feared, and not all forms of intelligent life conform to the human mold."
Joining Erivo in producing this thrilling film are Michael Bay and Brad Fuller, with Alex Ginno serving as executive producer. Currently, Erivo is reprising her iconic role as Elphaba in "Wicked: For Good," the eagerly anticipated second part of the Jon M. Chu-directed "Wicked" musical. Her portrayal garnered her nominations for Best Actress at the Academy Awards, Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards, and even a BAFTA. The film itself was nominated for ten Academy Awards, including Best Picture, ultimately winning two Oscars for its costume design and production design.
Scheduled for release on November 21, "Wicked: For Good" promises to captivate audiences once again, while Erivo's new production venture in "Saturation Point" hints at a promising future in the realm of sci-fi action thrillers.
