On Wednesday, Focus Features and Working Title Films unveiled that Daisy Edgar-Jones will star in a fresh adaptation of Jane Austen's timeless classic, "Sense and Sensibility." This venture marks a return for Focus and Working Title to Austen's storied oeuvre, following their critically acclaimed collaborations on the 2005 Academy Award-winning adaptation of "Pride & Prejudice" and the 2020 rendition of "Emma."

BAFTA nominee Georgia Oakley, whose directorial debut "Blue Jean" garnered her a BAFTA nomination for Outstanding Debut and the People’s Choice Award at the Venice Film Festival, will helm this adaptation, based on a script penned by bestselling author Diana Reid. Producing the film will be Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title Films, alongside India Flint of November Pictures and Jo Wallett.

Austen's "Sense and Sensibility," originally published anonymously under the byline "By A Lady," chronicles the lives of sisters Elinor (Edgar-Jones) and Marianne Dashwood, whose contrasting emotional landscapes guide them through the tumultuous terrains of love, loss, and financial instability against the backdrop of 18th-century English societal expectations. Austen's 1811 debut novel cemented her status as a literary giant and remains a cornerstone in English literature.

Edgar-Jones, renowned for her roles in films such as "Twisters" and "Where the Crawdads Sing," garnered BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations for her lead performance opposite Paul Mescal in Hulu's "Normal People." She also received a Golden Globe nomination for her work in "Under the Banner of Heaven."
