Over the weekend, the beloved "Despicable Me" franchise made a historic milestone, becoming the first animated series to cross the illustrious $5 billion mark.

Produced by Universal and Illumination, this latest installment in the franchise continues to delight audiences worldwide.

Meanwhile, another animated sensation, "Inside Out 2," continues to captivate audiences with its profound storytelling. Released by Disney and Pixar, the film grossed an impressive $50.2 million from 47 territories, bringing its international total to $777.5 million. This feat propels it to the fifth spot as the highest-grossing animated film of all time, surpassing even "Despicable Me 3." Globally, "Inside Out" has amassed a phenomenal $1.36 billion, becoming the only 2024 release to join the billion-dollar club.

Warner Bros. also kicked off the domestic launch of "Twisters" next week with a strong opening in 38 markets, including Australia, Mexico, and Brazil. The sequel to the 1996 blockbuster "Twister" garnered $11.5 million in its initial weekend. Next week, the film will expand its release to major European markets like France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the U.K. Starring Glen Powell, Daisy Edgar-Jones, and Anthony Ramos, "Twisters" is directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Lee Isaac Chung of "Minari." Universal Pictures holds the North American distribution rights for this thrilling disaster movie.

Lastly, Paramount's "A Quiet Place: Day One" terrorized audiences in 67 markets during its third weekend of release, grossing $10.4 million. This horror prequel has now accumulated an international haul of $104.5 million, pushing its global total to $220.7 million, proving that the franchise's terrifying tales continue to resonate with audiences worldwide.
