Hopps and Wilde are back in action! Disney has unveiled an enticing teaser trailer for the long-awaited sequel, "Zootopia 2," the highly anticipated follow-up to the beloved 2016 hit, "Zootopia." Though initially underestimated upon its release, "Zootopia" eventually garnered a massive global following (which is precisely why this teaser trailer opts for a dialogue-free approach, aiming to resonate with viewers regardless of their spoken language). It took Disney nearly a decade to navigate internal hurdles and propel the sequel into development. Now, it's geared up for a cinematic release this November.
In this thrilling sequel, detectives Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman) find themselves embedded in an undercover mission to unravel a perplexing case, tracing the erratic footsteps of a mysterious reptilian figure. The original voice cast reprises their roles, with Ginnifer Goodwin as Judy, Jason Bateman as Nick, and Shakira returning from the first film. They are joined by an exciting new ensemble, including Ke Huy Quan, Fortune Feimster, and Quinta Brunson, who bring fresh characters to life. Notably, Ke Huy Quan stars as Gary De'Snake, seemingly tagging along with our heroes as they confront an ominous new antagonist. This teaser evokes the playful charm of "Ice Age" movie teasers – a delight for all to enjoy.
"Zootopia 2," also known as "Zootropolis 2" and "Zoomania 2" internationally, once again pairs animation filmmakers Byron Howard (director of "Bolt," "Tangled," and the original "Zootopia") and Jared Bush (director of "Zootopia" and creator of "Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero"), both directors from the acclaimed "Encanto." The screenplay is penned by Jared Bush, who also wrote "Zootopia," "Moana," "Encanto," and the upcoming "Moana 2." Produced by Yvett Merino, "Zootopia 2" is crafted by Disney Animation Studios in Burbank.
