Next year, movie theaters will be awash with a wave of nostalgia from the early 2000s, as Disney unveils the release dates for two highly anticipated remakes: 'Freakier Friday' and the live-action adventure, 'Lilo & Stitch.' Marking its arrival on May 23, 2025, 'Lilo & Stitch' boldly squares off against Paramount's 'Mission: Impossible 8' at the box office. Meanwhile, 'Freakier Friday' promises to turn heads on August 8, 2025, though it faces formidable competition from a Leonardo DiCaprio-starrer helmed by Paul Thomas Anderson, already set for the same date by Warner Bros.

'Freakier Friday' reignites the sparks of the 2003 cult classic, reuniting Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis in a hilarious body-swap sequel. The original film charmed audiences with its tale of mother-daughter duo Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan), who swap lives for a day, learning invaluable lessons about each other's struggles. Directed by Nisha Ganatra, known for her work on 'Late Night,' this new chapter finds Anna as a mother to her own daughter and soon-to-be stepdaughter, propelling Tess and Anna into uncharted waters of family blending. The synopsis teases, "As they navigate the complexities of two families merging, Tess and Anna discover that fate may have more than one trick up its sleeve, with lightning poised to strike twice."

Returning cast members Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao add depth to the ensemble, alongside newcomers Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Manny Jacinto, and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan.

Meanwhile, 'Lilo & Stitch' soars into theaters under the visionary direction of Dean Fleischer Camp, blending live-action with CGI magic to continue the enchanting tale of a human girl and her dog-like alien best friend. Drawing inspiration from the beloved 2002 animated film, Maia Kealoha steps into the shoes of Lilo, while original Stitch voice actor Chris Sanders reprises his iconic role. Disney offered fans a tantalizing sneak peek of this heartwarming adventure at D23 Expo in August, whetting appetites for what's to come.
