"I was born to play this character... I need to be in this movie." Marvel Studios has unveiled another brand-new official trailer for their upcoming series titled Wonder Man, a MCU spin-off series ready to premiere on streaming this January. Will it be a good watch? Or will it be too quirky?
Hollywood actor Simon Williams, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, is thrust into the world of superheroes as he gains his own powers and becomes the new superhero Wonder Man. It's a meta commentary on superhero movies, with a director trying to reinvent and remake Wonder Man. Simon truly hopes he'll get the lead role, as he's essentially Wonder Man himself.

The series also stars Ben Kingsley back as Trevor Slattery from Iron Man 3, Demetrius Grosse, Lauren Glazier, Byron Bowers, and more. It features Zlatko Buric (who was also in James Gunn's Superman) as filmmaker Von Kovak. The show looks amusing, wacky, and weird. What are Simon's powers? Why doesn't anyone know he has them? What will he do when he gets the role? We'll have to watch to find out.
Wonder Man is a meta live-action Disney+ series with a "story about acting and the journey of an actor in Hollywood." Yahya Abdul-Mateen II stars as Simon Williams, a working actor who auditions for the lead role in Wonder Man, an upcoming reboot of a classic Wonder Man project from his youth. The story is a two-hander between Simon and Ben Kingsley's Trevor Slattery, who bond over their shared love of acting.
Wonder Man is created by filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton (director of Short Term 12, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, "American Born Chinese" series, and upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day) and Andrew Guest (writer/producer on "Marry Me," "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," "The Twilight Zone," and "Hawkeye"). It's showrun and written by Andrew Guest, with episodes directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and Stella Meghie (director of "Jean of the Joneses," "Everything Everything," "The Weekend," "The Photograph," and series "Insecure" and "Minx"). It's executive produced by Kevin Feige, Louis D'Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Destin Daniel Cretton, Andrew Guest, and Jonathan Schwartz.
Marvel Studios will premiere the Wonder Man series on Disney+ starting January 27th, 2026. Who's excited? Planning to watch?
