Picking up the threads from the thrilling 2021 showdown in "Godzilla vs. Kong," the new installment finds our iconic titans in an unexpected truce, living side by side in harmony. King Kong roams the mysterious Hollow Earth, while Godzilla defends Rome's Colosseum from destructive beasts, slumbering peacefully within its ancient walls. However, this fragile balance is shattered when Kong, yearning for companionship among his kind, stumbles upon a ferocious clan of giant apes hiding deep within the Hollow Earth. Led by the merciless Scar King, these apes embark on a destructive rampage on Earth, leaving only Godzilla and Kong as the last line of defense.

Directed by Adam Wingard, the maestro behind 2019's "Godzilla vs. Kong" and a veteran of the horror genre with films like "You're Next," "V/H/S," "Blair Witch," and "Death Wish," "Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire" stormed cinemas on March 29th, opening to a staggering $80 million, marking Wingard's highest-grossing opening and the second-highest for the Monsterverse franchise.

The star-studded cast includes Rebecca Hall from "The Gift," Brian Tyree Henry of "Bullet Train," and Dan Stevens from "Beauty and the Beast." Produced by the esteemed Thomas Tull of "Kong: Skull Island" and Mary Parent of "Dune: Part Two," this film promises to be a visual spectacle. Additionally, an ASL (American Sign Language) version of the film, produced with ASL performer Otis Jones, will also be available exclusively on Max on the same day.

"Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire" marks the fifth installment in the Monsterverse saga, arriving just months after Toho's "Godzilla Minus One," which in December 2023, became the first Godzilla movie to claim an Oscar for its groundbreaking visual effects. Prepare for an epic clash of titans as Godzilla and Kong rise to defend our world once again.
