Gracie Abrams, the talented singer-songwriter whose tracks such as "I Love You, I'm Sorry" and "That's So True" have garnered Grammy nominations, is making her acting debut in an A24 movie from Babygirl director Halina Reijn. Reijn will both write and direct the project, titled Please. Despite the fact that plot details are being kept under wraps, sources have revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that it is a period female drama and will continue the edgy romance genre that Reijn tackled with Babygirl.

David Hinojosa, who was behind A24's 2025 hit The Materialists, will produce the movie, re-teaming with Reijn for the third time following Babygirl and Bodies Bodies Bodies. Reijn will produce through her Man Up Film banner, with A24 producing and financing. Zach Nutman will executive produce.

Abrams, who recently wrapped her first solo arena tour in North America after opening for Taylor Swift, is also set to debut new music in 2026. "It's definitely my favorite music I've ever made, and I feel very closely connected to it," she told The Hollywood Reporter. "I appreciate so much that these albums are time capsules of where I'm at in my life at any given point, but right now it does feel very like me. I hope that whoever finds it, connects with it and that they make it theirs when it's out one day."

Interestingly, The Hollywood Reporter interviewed Abrams last week at Chateau Marmont, where she was the guest of honor at a Chanel event to celebrate the house's new Coco Crush fine jewelry. On the red carpet, when asked about her acting aspirations, she hinted that something might be in the works, saying, "I love a group project. The concept of being on a set is as thrilling as being on tour - everyone who's there is there for a reason. These kinds of creative environments are so incredibly inspiring to me. So yeah, who knows? We'll see."

In anticipation of the film, it's clear that Abrams, the daughter of filmmaker J.J. Abrams and executive Katie McGrath, is excited about her upcoming projects and the opportunities they present. Whether it's her new music or her acting debut, she's poised to bring her unique vision and talent to the screen and beyond.
