Imelda Staunton, a seasoned performer from the Harry Potter franchise, takes on a new role in BritBox's upcoming Agatha Christie series. The streamer has unveiled first-look images from the show, which presents a fresh take on one of Christie's lesser-known detective duos.
The Hollywood Reporter has released first-look images of BritBox's upcoming adaptation of Agatha Christie's Tommy & Tuppence, celebrating 50 years since the author's demise. Imelda Staunton stars as Aunt Ada, a retired detective and great-aunt to Tommy. She appears alongside Antonia Thomas as Tuppence and Josh Dylan as Tommy in what BritBox describes as "a detective duo for the ages."

BritBox confirms that this marks the first contemporary English-language TV adaptation of Agatha Christie's stories. Thomas plays Tuppence, "an actress and force of nature," while Dylan portrays Tommy, "a meticulous, charming crime writer" who rekindles his passion for crime-solving after reconnecting with Tuppence. Staunton's Aunt Ada is described as "a wry, retired private detective and funny powerhouse who adores her great nephew, Tommy, because he never undermines her."
Lookout Point produced the six-part series in collaboration with Agatha Christie Limited. Filming took place in London, with plans to premiere it later in 2026. Executive producer and writer Phoebe Eclair-Powell said, "As a lifelong Agatha fan, it was a dream come true to adapt her Partners in Crime and bring Tommy & Tuppence's spark into a contemporary world."
BritBox offers the largest collection of Agatha Christie titles on any North American streaming platform. Data shared with The Hollywood Reporter shows that over a third of BritBox viewers tuned in to new Agatha Christie Originals during their premiere week. Titles such as Towards Zero (2025), Why Didn't They Ask Evans? (2022), and Murder Is Easy (2023) rank among the platform's top five most-viewed premieres.
James Prichard, CEO of Agatha Christie Limited, said the show "is a bit different" from earlier adaptations but added that "at its heart is my great-grandmother's storytelling and characters."
