Immaculate: Ride or Die: Release Date, Cast, Trailer, and Everything You Need to Know 1

The first trailer for "Immaculate" was unveiled on January 25th, setting the tone for a dark and twisted narrative. "God saved me for a reason, but I'm still searching for what that reason is," Sweeney's Cecilia murmurs, preparing the audience for a harrowing ride. Upon her arrival at the secluded Italian convent, Cecilia starts to feel ill and soon learns that she is pregnant. The question that plagues her mind is whether this pregnancy is a blessing or a curse.

As other nuns turn hostile and wonder if the unborn child is an omen or the second coming, bizarre and dangerous occurrences start to unfold. Is this evil a test from God, the Devil, or a manmade conspiracy?

Sydney Sweeney takes the lead role of Cecilia, the newcomer to the seemingly idyllic convent. Apart from her notable performance in the teen drama "Euphoria," Sweeney has garnered praise for her roles in prestigious TV shows like "The White Lotus" and "The Handmaid's Tale." Sweeney is also slated to star alongside Dakota Johnson in Marvel's "Madame Web" and Ron Howard's upcoming survival thriller, "Eden."

Joining her is an ensemble cast of European TV veterans, including Alvaro Morte, Benedetta Porcaroli, and Simona Tabasco. Morte is well-known to international audiences for his portrayal of the professor in Netflix's hit Spanish crime series, "Money Heist." Another Netflix star, Porcaroli, led the popular Italian teen drama series "Baby," about an adolescent girl who turns to escort work. Porcaroli recently starred in the deadpan comedy-drama "Amanda," which garnered rave reviews at Venice and TIFF. Meanwhile, Tabasco made a name for herself on "The White Lotus" as Lucia, a young Sicilian sex worker. Other notable Italian actors like Dora Romano and Giorgio Colangeli will also star in the upcoming horror film, "Immaculate."

Michael Mohan directs "Immaculate." Mohan made his directorial debut in 2010 with the comedy-drama "One Too Many Mornings" and has since worked with several stars, including Alison Brie and Lizzy Caplan, on "Save the Date." Far from his first collaboration with Sydney Sweeney, he previously helmed her in the Netflix series he created, "Everything Sucks," which followed a group of teenagers growing up and struggling to find themselves in the real-life town of Boring, Oregon. He also directed her in his 2021 feature film, "The Voyeurs," starring Sweeney and Justice Smith as a young couple obsessed with the lives of their neighbors.

Collaborating with Mohan is "Immaculate's" screenwriter, Andrew Lobel. Although this is his debut feature-length script, he has previously written for the show "Mysteries Unknown."

"Immaculate" is scheduled for theatrical release on March 22, 2024. It will face stiff competition on its opening weekend from other films like the decades-spanning franchise sequel "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire" and the satirical fantasy comedy starring Justice Smith and David Alan Grier, "The American Society of Magical Negroes."
