Jacob Elordi in “Pole Position” for James Bond, Multiple Sources Say

Published: May 07 2026

As far as the identity of the next James Bond, rumors have been swirling around numerous actors, particularly Callum Turner. However, I am firmly sticking to my 10.01.25 story, and I'm betting that Jacob Elordi's the one to beat. The mention of Elordi came from a well-placed source who told me that Amazon/MGM was quietly pushing for him to be the next Bond, though no formal offer has been sent out yet. The source also indicated that Elordi was likely to have a screen test in 2026, which would include the usual tuxedo fitting and an action scene.

To my knowledge, this was the first time Elordi had been mentioned as a serious contender. However, since then, there have been some intriguing signs pointing in his direction. For instance, journalist Roger Friedman of Showbiz411 reported that Elordi had meetings with Bond producers, Amazon/MGM, and director Denis Villeneuve. Now, Marina Hyde, a writer for The Guardian, on The Rest is Entertainment podcast, has stated that she's heard from multiple sources that Elordi is in "pole position" to be the new James Bond.

It's expected that Villeneuve will have a say in the matter, and so far, there's been no indication of pushback on his part regarding Elordi's casting. According to Deadline's Justin Kroll, a final decision on the next 007 actor is supposed to be made in mid-2026.

If he gets the role, Elordi would be the youngest 007 ever, which aligns with previous reports that Amazon was looking for a young Bond to reboot the franchise. Elordi could be a natural fit for 007, a character that requires both looks and a certain detached coldness, which Elordi possesses. He also has an imposing frame and a natural air of detachment that aligns with Ian Fleming's colder, more ruthless conception of the character. His performances have shown that he can balance charm with menace - exactly the duality required of James Bond.

A key factor in this reboot is screenwriter Steven Knight, who is penning Bond 26 for Amazon/MGM. With credits including "Peaky Blinders" and "Eastern Promises," Knight has a history of gritty, violent storytelling. One insider notes that the new Bond needs to look like "he could kill you with his bare hands in a trice" - a clear nod to Ian Fleming's more brutal conception of the character. Standing at 6'5", Elordi certainly fits the physical criteria.
