Jason Statham is gearing up to revisit the enigmatic world of "The Beekeeper" for its highly anticipated sequel, diving back into the thrilling realms of action and intrigue. This follow-up to the 2024 smash hit chronicles the journey of a former intelligence operative, once a pivotal figure within the shadowy organization known as the Beekeepers. Driven by the tragic demise of his cherished landlady, a victim of a sinister phishing scam, he embarks on a relentless quest for justice and revenge.
Miramax has stepped up to produce and finance this electrifying venture, with cameras slated to roll in the autumn. Taking the helm from David Ayer is Timo Tjahjanto, the mastermind behind the upcoming action spectacle "Nobody 2." Screenwriting duties are once again entrusted to Kurt Wimmer, who penned the original's gripping narrative.
Statham will lend his producing prowess through his Punch Palace Productions, joined by Chris Long of Long Shot Productions. Together, they aim to recapture the magic that made "The Beekeeper" a global phenomenon, grossing an impressive $153 million at the box office and earning widespread acclaim.
