"After the Hunt" has secured a prime spot during the awards season, courtesy of Amazon MGM Studios. Helmed by director Luca Guadagnino, this gripping thriller is poised to make its limited theatrical debut on October 10th, with a gradual expansion of screenings in the following week. Starring Julia Roberts, the ensemble cast boasts talents like Ayo Edebiri, Andrew Garfield, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Chloë Sevigny.
On October 17th, as "After the Hunt" prepares for a nationwide rollout, it will share the spotlight with Universal's horror sequel "The Black Phone 2" and Lionsgate's comedy "Good Fortune," directed by Aziz Ansari and featuring Keanu Reeves, Seth Rogen, and Keke Palmer.
Produced by Imagine Entertainment, "After the Hunt" centers on a college professor, played by Roberts, who is compelled to confront her own shadowy past when a prominent student, portrayed by Edebiri, levies an accusation against one of her colleagues, embodied by Garfield. The film is adapted from a script penned by Nora Garrett and directed by Guadagnino. The producing team comprises Guadagnino, Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody, and Allan Mandelbaum, with Mandelbaum bringing the script to Imagine Entertainment and collaborating with CAA to secure the involvement of Roberts and Guadagnino.
"After the Hunt" marks Guadagnino's return to Amazon MGM Studios, which previously released his Zendaya-led film "Challengers" last year. His directorial resume includes critically acclaimed features such as "Call Me by Your Name" (2017), "Suspiria" (2018), "Bones and All" (2022), and the upcoming "Queer" (2024). Meanwhile, Roberts has recently graced the silver screen in Universal's romantic comedy "Ticket to Paradise," alongside George Clooney, and Netflix's thriller "Leave the World Behind," co-starring Mahershala Ali and Ethan Hawke.
