Nintendo and Sony have unveiled the stars set to breathe life into their highly anticipated live-action adaptation of "The Legend of Zelda," revealing the actors portraying Zelda and Link with a captivating social media announcement on Wednesday. Shigeru Miyamoto, of Nintendo fame, took to social media to unveil that Bo Bragason will embody Zelda, while Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will don the iconic green tunic of Link, accompanied by tantalizing first-glance images of the actors in their costume designs.
"With immense pleasure, I introduce you to the stars of our live-action 'The Legend of Zelda' film: Bo Bragason-san as Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san as Link," read the post on Nintendo's official account, brimming with anticipation. "I eagerly await their big-screen debut, brimming with excitement."
Bragason, an English actress renowned for her roles in BBC One's "Three Girls" and "The Jetty," as well as Disney+'s "Renegade Nell," has recently stolen hearts in Euros Lyn's vampire comedy "The Radleys." Ainsworth, fellow English talent, voices Pinocchio in Robert Zemeckis' live-action remake and portrayed Miles in Netflix's chilling "The Haunting of Bly Manor." His resume also boasts starring in the Canadian comedy "Son of a Critch" and a guest appearance in Netflix's "The Sandman."
Scheduled to enchant audiences in theaters on May 7, 2027, "The Legend of Zelda" underwent a slight shift from its original March release date due to production considerations, as shared by Miyamoto last month.
Directed by Wes Ball, the visionary behind "The Maze Runner" and "Planet of the Apes" sequels, this live-action interpretation of the beloved video game franchise promises to be a cinematic marvel. Miyamoto and Avi Arad are spearheading the production, aiming to replicate the box-office magic of Nintendo's "Super Mario Bros. Movie," which has become a global phenomenon for Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment.
All eyes are now riveted on "The Legend of Zelda," eager to witness if it can cast an equally enchanting spell at the box office for Sony.
