This adrenaline-pumping new rendition will hit theaters this August.

Ensnared by a malevolent despot intent on annihilating her people, the barbarian huntress Red Sonja (portrayed by Matilda Lutz of the suspense thriller "Revenge") must assemble an unlikely fellowship of warriors to confront Draygan The Magnificent. Directed by the formidable action filmmaker M.J. Bassett, whose credits include "Deathwatch," "Wilderness," "Solomon Kane," and segments of "Silent Hill: Revelation," among others, this new "Red Sonja" also features Wallis Day as Annisia, Robert Sheehan as Draygan, and an ensemble cast comprising Michael Bisping, Martyn Ford, Eliza Matengu, Rhona Mitra, and Veronica Ferres.

For years, Robert Rodriguez has also harbored ambitions to bring "Red Sonja" to the silver screen. As anticipated, this adaptation possesses a campy, polished sheen reminiscent of a made-for-TV movie. Yet, it may well prove diverting enough to captivate viewers.

Based on the comic book character, "Red Sonja" introduces us to a vengeful warrior who has earned her moniker as the "She-Devil with a Sword." Enslaved by a ruthless tyrant with designs on her people's destruction, Red Sonja must forge an alliance with an eclectic group of warriors to stand against Draygan The Magnificent and his sinister bride, Dark Annisia. With M.J. Bassett at the helm, the screenplay penned by Tasha Huo (also of "The Witcher: Blood Origin" and "Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft") promises an exhilarating tale. Rooted in characters originally conceived by Robert E. Howard and adapted by Roy Thomas for the comic books first published in 1973, the film is produced by Avi Lerner, Joe Gatta, Yariv Lerner, Mark Canton, Courtney Solomon, Joey Soloway, and Luke Lieberman.

Samuel Goldwyn Films will premiere M.J. Bassett's "Red Sonja" in theaters beginning August 15th, 2025. Who dares to embark on this cinematic journey?
