Universal Pictures has jumped onto the Monster High bandwagon, collaborating with the iconic toy brand Mattel to bring a thrilling feature film to the big screen. The production, helmed by renowned producer Akiva Goldsman, promises to captivate audiences with a story that delves into the fascinating world of monster teenagers.
Debuting in 2010, the Monster High toy line introduced a captivating universe populated by the teenage offspring of legendary monsters like Dracula, Frankenstein, and the Wolfman. These unique characters navigate the challenges and triumphs of high school life, offering a refreshing perspective on the classic coming-of-age tale.
The partnership between Mattel and Universal Pictures marks another milestone in the toy company's ongoing effort to expand its intellectual property portfolio. Following the remarkable success of last year's Barbie film, which grossed over $1.446 billion worldwide, Mattel is now leveraging its diverse range of popular franchises to create immersive cinematic experiences.

Currently, no director or writer has been announced for the Monster High film. However, with Goldsman's Oscar-winning pedigree and prolific producing credits, including the upcoming Major Matt Mason movie for Tom Hanks, the project is sure to attract top talent.
Goldsman himself expressed his enthusiasm for the Monster High franchise, revealing that his daughters were once obsessed with the dolls. "I'm excited to reunite with Robbie Brenner and our partners at Mattel to bring this iconic property to the big screen," he said.
Monster High has previously been adapted for television, airing on Nickelodeon and Paramount+. Mattel's extensive portfolio of projects also includes high-profile collaborations with talent like Daniel Kaluuya (Barney), Vin Diesel (Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots), J.J. Abrams (Hot Wheels), and Amazon MGM Studios' Masters of the Universe, which recently cast Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man.
The Monster High film will be overseen by Kevin McKeon and Arturo Thur De Koos on behalf of Mattel, while Greg Lessans will handle production duties for Goldsman's Weed Road Productions. On the Universal Pictures side, Lexi Barta, Senior Vice President of Production, and Jacqueline Garell, Creative Executive of Production Development, will spearhead the project.
With such a talented team behind it, the Monster High film promises to be a thrilling and heartfelt adventure that will captivate audiences of all ages.
