"What became of my beloved dancer?" "She's vanished into thin air!" Searchlight Pictures has unveiled an exhilaratingly fresh trailer for Darren Aronofsky's Academy Award-winning thriller, "Black Swan," which first graced screens in 2010. This year, marking its quintessential 15th anniversary, the film is set for a fleeting re-release, exclusive to two nights only. The exciting twist in this re-emergence? An upgrade is in store. The IMAX version will undergo a digital metamorphosis, transforming its visuals and audio into the pristine quality of The IMAX Experience, complemented by an innovative, immersive IMAX 5.0 soundscape.

New Trailer for 15th Anniversary Re-Release of 'Black Swan' in IMAX 1

"Black Swan" delves into the intense relationship between a seasoned ballet dancer and her rival, both vying for the coveted role in a new production of Swan Lake. Helmed by the visionary Darren Aronofsky, the film stars Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis, with memorable performances from Winona Ryder, Vincent Cassel, and Barbara Hershey. This cinematic gem (as per my 2010 review) garnered five Oscar nominations, ultimately securing the Best Actress award for Natalie Portman, amidst a fierce competition where "The King's Speech" claimed the Best Picture honor. The haunting score by Clint Mansell stands out, while Matty Libatique's cinematography was also Oscar-nominated.

Tickets are now available at 250 IMAX theaters across the nation for screenings towards the end of August. Seize the opportunity to revisit this haunting masterpiece on the grandest of screens. Immerse yourself in IMAX!

Set against the backdrop of New York City's ballet world, "Black Swan" follows Nina (Natalie Portman), a leading ballet dancer drawn into a web of rivalry with a new adversary (Mila Kunis) within their dance company. Directed by the acclaimed American filmmaker Darren Aronofsky, this was his fifth feature film, following "Pi," "Requiem for a Dream," "The Fountain," and "The Wrestler," before venturing into "Noah" in 2014. The screenplay, penned by Andrés Heinz with contributions from Mark Heyman and John J. McLaughlin, is based on Heinz's original story. Produced by Scott Franklin, Mike Medavoy, Arnold W. Messer, and Brian Oliver, "Black Swan" premiered at the 2010 Telluride and Toronto Film Festivals (revisit my original review). Upon its theatrical release in December 2010, it amassed five Oscar nominations, with Natalie Portman triumphing in the Best Actress category.

Searchlight Pictures will reintroduce Aronofsky's "Black Swan" in selected theaters, including IMAX, for two nights only: August 21st and 24th, 2025, just around the corner. For detailed showtimes, visit their official website.
