Ruben Fleischer, the visionary behind the zombie-comedy phenomenon Zombieland, has offered a glimpse into the future of the beloved franchise. After a decade-long hiatus, the first Zombieland debuted in 2009, followed by its highly anticipated sequel in 2019. Currently busy promoting his latest film Now You See Me: Now You Don't, the director was inquired about the possibility of a third chapter in the Zombieland saga.

With a twinkle in his eye, Fleischer revealed that when they wrapped up the second film, the entire cast and crew were eager to return for another round, but with a 10-year wait in between. In an exclusive interview with Deadline, the 51-year-old filmmaker shared his aspirations, "I'm hoping that we'll embark on Zombieland 3 in 2029... We've started discussing it because [the first film] was released in 2009, and then we did the second one in 2019, leaving our audience with a promise of 'We'll see you in 10 years.' That time has now arrived, and we're in the process of figuring it all out. I'm hopeful it'll all come together."

The franchise, which has captivated audiences worldwide, stars Jesse Eisenberg as Columbus, Emma Stone as Wichita, Woody Harrelson as Tallahassee, and Abigail Breslin as Little Rock. Both previous films were commercial successes, grossing approximately $102.4 million and $126 million globally.

Fleischer's reunion of Eisenberg and Harrelson in Now You See Me 3, along with Morgan Freeman, Isla Fisher, and Dave Franco, has not only been a box office triumph but has also cemented its position as a global number one hit. As the director continues to thrill audiences with his imaginative tales, fans can only speculate on what treasures await in the next chapter of Zombieland – a decade in the making.
