Stepping into the shoes of Agathe, a delightful yet perpetually awkward singleton employed at the iconic Shakespeare & Co. bookstore in Paris, the film charts her journey from fantasy-laden escapism to confrontation with reality. Yearning to pen her own tales and experience the love stories straight out of Jane Austen novels, Agathe's love life remains a tumultuous solo act, hindered by writer's block and self-doubt.

When Agathe's ever-supportive best friend (Pablo Pauly) secures her a spot at the Jane Austen Writers' Residency in England, it marks the dawn of her Austenian awakening... and an unforeseen romantic entanglement involving three hearts. As Agathe grapples with her insecurities, she must navigate this love triangle to discern her true desires and pursue both her romantic and literary aspirations with unwavering determination.

Starring Camille Rutherford as Agathe, alongside a charming ensemble including Pablo Pauly, Charlie Anson, Annabelle Lengronne, Liz Crowther, and Alan Fairbairn, this bilingual gem (half in English, half in French) transports viewers between the charming streets of Paris and the picturesque English countryside where Agathe embarks on her writer's journey.

Written and directed by Laura Piani in her feature directorial debut, "Jane Austen Wrecked My Life" is a production helmed by Gabrielle Dumon. Having premiered at the 2024 Toronto Film Festival, Sony Classics will introduce this delightful film to select US theaters beginning May 16th, 2025. Prepare for a heartwarming and humorous tale that beautifully blends the magic of Jane Austen with contemporary romantic woes.
