"El Sergio is backo!" Blue Fox Entertainment has unveiled an official US trailer for the whimsical French action-comedy, "The Gardener," set to grace American screens this summer at last. Last December, we featured the film's original French trailer, as it premiered exclusively on Prime Video in France earlier this year. Starring Jean-Claude Van Damme as Léo, an enigmatic gardener whose talents transcend mere landscape maintenance, the movie propels viewers into a murky web of political assassinations orchestrated by high-level government officials.
In this thriller, Serge, a high-ranking civil servant with close ties to the President, discovers that he holds a state secret that has placed him, his family, and their gardener Leo on a government hit list. Faced with certain death, they must devise a plan to stay alive as mercenaries close in on them. The stellar cast includes Michaël Youn, Nawell Madani, Carla Poquin, and rapper Kaaris, delivering a tale reminiscent of a "John Wick" spin-off, focusing on an unassuming individual who turns out to be an assassin. However, it bears a closer resemblance to "The Beekeeper," featuring JCVD in another action-packed role.
The movie, dubbed "Le Jardinier" in French, is helmed by French writer-director David Charhon, whose credits include "Cyprien," "On the Other Side of the Tracks," "Castaways," and "The Last Mercenary." The screenplay is penned by Charhon alongside Vincent De Brus and Sebastien Fechner, with Fechner also serving as producer.
After premiering on Prime Video in France, Spain, and the UK in January, "The Gardener" is set to make its US debut in select theaters and on VOD starting June 6th, 2025. Picture this: every year, the Prime Minister eliminates a list of troublemakers in the name of national security. Serge Shuster (Michaël Youn), finding himself entangled in a scheme that places him on that lethal list, must rely on his enigmatic gardener, Léo (Jean-Claude Van Damme), for survival, along with his wife and children, as they grapple with the perilous state secret threatening their lives.
Get ready for a wild ride filled with unexpected twists and turns, as "The Gardener" brings its unique blend of humor, action, and intrigue to US audiences this summer. Will you be among the first to catch it?
