Patrick Schwarzenegger has revealed an intriguing tidbit about his acting journey, sharing that he once auditioned for a role in James Gunn's upcoming Superman film. During a recent episode of Josh Horowitz's "Happy Sad Confused" podcast, Schwarzenegger was inquisitively asked if he'd embarked on numerous superhero audition adventures throughout his career. The star of "The White Lotus" swiftly responded with a negative, quipping, "No, I haven't," before mentioning that his superhero audition experiences were limited to three occasions: for the Homelander character in "The Boys," Golden Boy in "Gen V" (a role he successfully booked), and none other than Superman.

Horowitz's curiosity piqued further, he inquired whether Schwarzenegger had slipped into a superhero suit for his Superman audition. To this, Schwarzenegger responded playfully, "No, I don't think I got any feedback. It was probably a 'No, not for you' scenario," adding that the audition was a self-taped endeavor. Ultimately, the mantle of Clark Kent was bestowed upon David Corenswet, but this twist of fate worked out well for Schwarzenegger, as his Superman audition preceded his fortunate opportunity to star in the third season of HBO's "The White Lotus."

Reps for Schwarzenegger were contacted by The Hollywood Reporter for further comment. In 2023, Schwarzenegger portrayed the comic book character Golden Boy across five episodes in "Gen V," a spin-off series of "The Boys." Additionally, the actor behind "The Staircase" revealed that the only two in-person auditions he's endured since the pandemic were for "The Idea of You" and "American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez." Schwarzenegger landed the latter role, embodying the beloved University of Florida quarterback, Tim Tebow.

Nowadays, the realm of auditions has largely shifted to the digital realm, dominated by Zoom sessions. Schwarzenegger recounted, "It's just one person on the screen, and when they speak, they're visible, and then it switches to you when you respond. It's genuinely odd doing a scene with someone like this because sometimes they'll be mid-sentence and you'll start talking, and the screen will abruptly switch to you, creating a distracting and surreal atmosphere."
