"Alcohol isn't the culprit – it's the individuals behind the bottle." Quiver Distribution has unveiled an official trailer for the captivating indie film titled 'Off the Record,' another melodramatic tale woven around a musician's love affair. Having made its debut at the prestigious 2024 Heartland Film Festival, the film is set to enchant audiences on Video On Demand (VOD) starting in May, just around the corner.

Rainey Qualley Plays a Singer in Los Angeles in 'Off the Record' Trailer 1

In the heart of Los Angeles, Astor Grey, an aspiring singer-songwriter played by the real-life musician Rainey Qualley (sister of Margaret and the creative force behind the music video 'Love Me Like You Hate Me'), swiftly succumbs to the allure of Brandyn Verge, a faded rock star portrayed by Ryan Hansen. Their tempestuous romance blossoms into a dark saga of manipulation, compelling Astor to embark on a courageous journey to reclaim her independence, her music, and her very identity.

Qualley, performing under her stage name Rainsford, not only stars in the film but also contributes two tracks, including the empowering anthem "See Me Cry" and a haunting rendition of Bruce Springsteen's "I'm On Fire," which will be featured on her forthcoming album, set for release alongside the movie next month.

Directed by Kristen Foe in her feature film debut, 'Off the Record' stars Qualley as Astor Grey, whose promising musical journey takes a dark detour when she becomes entangled in a tumultuous love affair with Verge. What starts as a whirlwind romance rapidly unravels into a gripping narrative of manipulation and resilience, as Astor battles to regain her autonomy and the purity of her art.

Written and directed by American indie filmmaker Kristen Foe, a former stuntwoman turned director who makes her feature directorial bow after helming several short films, 'Off the Record' is produced by Gabe Rodriguez and Kristen Foe herself. The film premiered at the 2024 Heartland Film Festival and is set to hit select US theaters and VOD platforms starting May 2nd, 2025.
