Get set for an exhilarating ride as Rebel Wilson steps in to rescue the day amidst the chaos of her best friend's wedding. The comedy queen headlines an absolutely hysterical ensemble in the action-packed comedy 'Bride Hard', marking a joyous reunion between Wilson and her 'Pitch Perfect' co-star Anna Camp. Joining them are a stellar cast including Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Anna Chlumsky, Gigi Zumbado, Stephen Dorff, and Justin Hartley. PEOPLE has the exclusive first glimpse of the trailer for 'Bride Hard', where Wilson shines as Sam, a secret agent forced to go undercover as the maid of honor at her friend's exotic wedding.
Wilson, 45, reveals to PEOPLE that portraying on-screen BFFs with Camp, 42, is "a breeze" thanks to their bond that dates back to the original 'Pitch Perfect' in 2012. "It's effortless because we're constantly cracking jokes and having a blast. She has this infectious bubbly personality that never fails to make me laugh," she says.
Filmed in Savannah, Georgia, Wilson and Camp admit to indulging in countless pranks on the 'Bride Hard' set. "We had this running gag where we'd pretend to get electrocuted or burnt by the equipment, scaring the crew," chuckles Wilson. "We'd walk around acting all dramatic, touching things and shouting 'Ah!' It was hilarious, and we did it every single day."
'Bride Hard' promises a tale of "high-maintenance bridesmaids" as Sam strives to prove her loyalty to her friend. However, the festivities take a dramatic turn when a mercenary squad crashes the party, taking hostages and throwing Sam into a perilous battle—one where she can't afford to blow her cover or spoil the wedding.
Wilson was thrilled to tackle the fight scenes under the able direction of Simon West, renowned for action blockbusters like 'Lara Croft: Tomb Raider', 'Con Air', and 'The Mechanic'. "It's a hoot to pretend to kick ass," she admits, comparing combat training to mastering dance choreography.
Wilson boasts about her most badass moment—throwing a knife in the air and catching it after a perfect spin, and another scene where she wields curling irons like nunchucks. However, 'Bride Hard' almost cost Wilson a trip to the hospital during the film's final hours.
"I thought I had escaped unscathed, just a bit of muscle soreness here and there. But on the last night, a gun accidentally smacked my face during a scene at 3 a.m.," Wilson recounts, referring to the nose injury she documented on social media in 2023. A plastic surgeon had to stitch her nose, followed by laser treatment to avoid scarring. Despite the ordeal, Wilson considers it a badge of honor among action stars.
"At least I can now say I've shared the action-movie injury club with Tom Cruise and Daniel Craig," she jokes. "It's a pretty exclusive group to be in."
