Sony Pictures Classics has unveiled an updated cinematic debut for the enchanting romantic comedy, "Jane Austen Wrecked My Life." Directed by the talented French writer-director Laura Piani, the film will grace select theaters on May 23, 2025, before expanding nationwide on May 30. Initially slated for a May 16 release, the movie wisely steered clear of a crowded weekend that included Lionsgate's "Hurry Up Tomorrow," starring The Weeknd and Jenna Ortega, and New Line's "Final Destination: Bloodlines," the latest installment in the horror series.

"Jane Austen Wrecked My Life" revolves around Agathe, an aspiring author brought to life by Camille Rutherford of "Anatomy of a Fall." Agathe, employed at the storied Shakespeare & Co. bookstore in Paris, finds herself entangled in romantic escapades straight out of Jane Austen's novels. As she dreams of literary fame, Agathe grapples with writer's block and the perpetual singleton status. Her fortunes change when her best friend (Paublo Pauly) secures her an invitation to the Jane Austen Writers' Residency in England. It's here that Agathe experiences her very own Jane Austen moment, only to find herself caught in an unanticipated romantic triangle. Navigating her insecurities, Agathe must determine her true desires and strive to fulfill her romantic and professional aspirations. Rounding out the cast are Charlie Anson and Annabelle Lengronne.

Earlier this year, "Jane Austen Wrecked My Life" premiered in France to great acclaim. The film is produced by Gabrielle Dumon and partially funded by French broadcasters CANAL+ and CINÉ.
