Among the new recruits are Severance's Tramell Tillman and Ted Lasso's Hannah Waddingham, who, much like their predecessors, are seen calmly requesting Ethan to elaborate on his seemingly impossible plan.

Initially titled Dead Reckoning Part Two, this eighth installment of the Mission: Impossible saga concludes the narrative arc set in motion by its predecessor. Ethan and the IMF had previously clashed with a mysterious rogue A.I. cyberweapon known as the Entity and its malevolent mastermind, Gabriel (Esai Morales), an assassin yearning for control. Now in possession of the crucial key to defeat the Entity, Ethan must rally his team to uncover a sunken Russian submarine hiding vital source code.

Returning to the fray are Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Pom Klementieff, Henry Czerny, and Angela Bassett. Joining the series' ranks are newcomers such as Waddingham, Tillman, Nick Offerman, Katy O'Brian (from Love Lies Bleeding), Holt McCallany (of Mindhunter fame), and Janet McTeer (Ozark).

In the previous chapter, Hunt bid a poignant farewell to his long-time friend and fellow spy, Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson), who had been an integral part of the series since Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation in 2015. The loss inflicted by Gabriel fueled Ethan's determination to save the world.

Returning to direct and produce is Christopher McQuarrie, marking his fourth outing with the franchise. Cruise once again serves as a producer for the Paramount and Skydance film, alongside executive producers David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, and Chris Brock.

Ethan's ultimate reckoning awaits in theaters on May 23. Watch the captivating full trailer above.
