The eagerly anticipated next chapter in Tom Holland's Spider-Man saga is fast approaching. During his Tuesday visit to "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," Holland disclosed that "Spider-Man 4" has officially received the green light. With a grin, he assured Fallon, "It's a done deal. Next summer, we'll kick off filming. Everything's set. We're almost there—it's incredibly thrilling. Honestly, I can hardly wait."
In a separate interview on "Good Morning America," Holland teased about the fourth installment, saying, "The concept is absolutely wild. It's somewhat unprecedented in our Spider-Man universe, but I believe the fans will absolutely embrace it."
In a podcast interview with Rich Roll last week, Holland revealed that he and Zendaya had already perused script drafts: "I read it three weeks back, and it ignited a spark within me. Zendaya and I sat together and read it aloud, jumping around the living room in excitement, saying, 'This is a genuine film worthy of the fans' admiration.' However, there are still a few puzzle pieces we need to fit together before we can truly dive in, but the excitement is palpable."
Last month, "The Hollywood Reporter" exclusively reported that Destin Daniel Cretton was in negotiations to helm the film, stepping into the shoes of filmmaker Jon Watts, who directed the previous three Holland-led adventures. Watts' predecessor, Marc Webb, directed the two "Amazing Spider-Man" films starring Andrew Garfield, while Sam Raimi helmed the trilogy featuring Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst.
For Holland's fourth solo venture, Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are penning the script, with Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige and former Sony Pictures head Amy Pascal overseeing production.
The plot remains shrouded in mystery, as "No Way Home" concluded with the world erasing the memory of Peter Parker (Holland) being Spider-Man, including his love interest MJ (Zendaya).
Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon have starred in the trio of Spider-Man films—"Spider-Man: Homecoming" (2017), "Spider-Man: Far From Home" (2019), and "Spider-Man: No Way Home" (2021).
News of "Spider-Man 4" emerges amidst the recent announcement that Holland will star alongside Matt Damon in Christopher Nolan's upcoming feature. Nolan penned the script and is directing the Universal Pictures project, which is set for release on July 17, 2026.
During his Wednesday appearance on "Good Morning America," Holland reminisced about the moment he received the call to work with Nolan. "Receiving that call was a once-in-a-lifetime experience," he said with a smile. "It reminded me of the call I got about playing Spider-Man ten years ago. It's an incredible opportunity for me. I'm incredibly proud and super, super excited."
