Donning the Spider-Man suit is nothing novel for Tom Holland, yet he candidly admits that slipping into it for the very first time ahead of the eagerly anticipated "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" felt distinctly "different this time around." Filming for this fourth collaboration between Sony and Marvel commenced earlier this month, and on Sunday, Holland took to Instagram to relive and share the highlights of his "day one" back in the iconic superhero attire.
"Here I am, embarking on my fourth 'day one' as Spider-Man," he said in a one-minute video (embedded below). "It's quite amusing donning this suit once more. Somehow, it feels unlike any other time. And this is also the maiden occasion where we've welcomed fans onto the set on day one. It's truly thrilling to share this experience with them."
Adding further, Holland said, "I'll simply give it my all. Fingers crossed I nail it. No pressure, though, right?"
On August 3, the actor from "The Crowded Room" unveiled his revamped Spider-Man costume, featuring an enlarged spider emblazoned on his chest, a marked departure from his previous attires seen in "Spider-Man: Homecoming" (2017), "Far From Home" (2019), and "No Way Home" (2021).
Towards the end of his Instagram video, after pulling off a stunning stunt, Holland exclaimed, "Wow, that was a cracker! That felt absolutely amazing."
In addition to Holland, it was earlier announced that Mark Ruffalo would reprise his role as Bruce Banner/the Hulk in "Brand New Day," along with Michael Mando as Scorpion and Jon Bernthal as the Punisher. Sadie Sink has also joined the star-studded cast.
While most plot details of the superhero flick directed by Destin Daniel Cretton remain shrouded in secrecy, Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers have returned to pen the screenplay. At the conclusion of "No Way Home," Spider-Man's true identity as Peter Parker was erased from the minds of everyone, including his friends, family, and his beloved girlfriend MJ (Zendaya).
"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" is set to soar onto theater screens on July 31, 2026.
