Dark Star Pictures has unveiled the official U.S. trailer for "Daydreamers," an indie vampire romantic thriller crafted by Vietnamese filmmaker Timothy Linh Bui. Initially premiered in Vietnam towards the end of 2023, and showcased at the 2024 Viet Film Fest last year, the film is poised for a limited theatrical release in the U.S. this summer, commencing in May.
Set amidst the contemporary hustle of Saigon, "Daydreamers" paints a vivid picture where vampires, once relentless nocturnal predators, teeter on the brink of extinction. The remnants of this ancient race cling desperately to a fragile truce, refraining from slaughtering humans for their sustenance. They dwell in tight-knit communities aboard riverboats, adhering to a strict code to refrain from murder, thereby ensuring their own safety. Known as "Nguoi Mat Troi" in Vietnamese, "Daydreamers" is penned and helmed by Vietnamese producer/filmmaker Timothy Linh Bui, whose directorial credits include "Green Dragon" and "Powder Blue," amongst others, and who has produced numerous additional films. Produced by Irene Trinh, Anh Tien Tran, and Timothy Linh Bui, the film first premiered in Vietnam in December 2023 and was featured at the 2024 Viet Film Fest last autumn. Dark Star Pictures will introduce "Daydreamers" in select U.S. theaters on May 2nd, 2025, followed by a VOD release starting June 3rd this summer. Intrigued yet?
